Cationic Lipids (Transfection)

Cationic lipids can transport nucleic acids into the cell via endocytosis or cell membrane fusion. Fusion cation lipids transfer nucleic acids almost exclusively through cell membrane fusion. The fusion between the positively charged cationic lipids and the negatively charged cell surface effectively carries DNA directly across the plasma membrane. This process bypasses the endosome-lysosome route, resulting in degradation of the anionic liposome formulation. Cationic lipids are widely used in gene transfection because they are biodegradable due to the presence of endogenous enzymes after administration in vivo.

CD Bioparticles’ services with customized delivery strategies, precise designs and modifications of drugs or drug-contained cargos, and advanced technical platforms can help you to solve:

The challenges you might meet:

  • Due to its polyanionic properties, the gene reagents are almost impossible to penetrate into cells
  • Current gene therapy vectors are poorly targeted
  • The virus gene vector has low safety and low load capacity
  • The virus gene vector is easy to cause the immune response of the body
  • Tedious liposome formulation, purifications, and production
