Cardiolipin is a unique phospholipid found mainly in the inner mitochondrial membrane of cells. It is composed of two phosphatidyl groups linked by a glycerol molecule, with four fatty acid chains extending out from the glycerol backbone. Cardiolipin is important for maintaining the integrity and function of the mitochondrial membrane, and is involved in a number of cellular processes, including energy production and apoptosis (programmed cell death).
Therefore, the liposomes formed in this way are excellent in the delivery of drugs for mitochondrial disease, heart disease, Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease.
CD Bioparticles manufactures and supplies cardiolipin for lipid system research. Contact us to find out how Cardiolipin can help your work.
