Fluorescent Chitosans

Due to the chemical structure and tissue characteristics of macromolecules, chitosan has many properties and can be used in many fields. Chitosan is a polysaccharide composed of 2-acetylamino-2-deoxy-β-D-glucopyranose and 2-amino-2-deoxy-β-D-glucopyranose units, partially deacetylated by chitin obtained. Since the chemical structure of chitosan lacks the fluorophore and the necessary UV extinction effect, the molecule becomes transparent to the UV spectrum. This invisibility of chitosan also limits the study of molecular features and other advantages of analysis using UV optics. It is known that one possible way to overcome this invisibility is to label polysaccharides with compounds containing chromophores.

CD Bioparticles manufactures and supplies fluorochrome-labeled chitosans with biotin, Cy5, Cy5.5, FITC, iminothiolane, rhodamine B, and TAMRA. Contact us to find out how fluorescent chitosans can help you in your work.
