Folate Liposomes

Folic acid is the natural form of vitamin B9. It is used to modify the surface of liposomes because it can bind to specific proteins. Among them, the folate receptor (FR) is a tumor-associated antigen that can bind folic acid (FA) and its conjugates with high affinity and uptake the bound molecules in cells through the endocytic mechanism. Using folate as a ligand, a wide variety of payloads can be delivered into FR-overexpressing tumor cells. In addition, folate-binding protein (FBP) is an endogenous protein that exhibits a very high affinity for folate. Antibodies can be labeled with FBP to form immunoliposomes by non-covalent and high-affinity interactions between FBP and folic acid lipids on the surface of liposomes. To this end, CD Bioparticles has developed folate liposomes for use in various preclinical drug development studies.

CD Bioparticles manufactures and supplies folate liposomes for the research of drug delivery. Contact us to find out how the folate liposomes can help your work.
