We offer a full range of integrated services and proprietary solutions to our customers.

Introduction to Controlled-Release Implant

Controlled release implants are unique systems for sustained release of drugs with high bioavailability and low toxicity. Site-specific implants are designed to deliver multiple active substances (especially proteins) to provide local or systemic drug release, reducing the frequency of office visits, reducing the number of drug administrations, and minimizing "poking and prodding". Delivering drugs more efficiently to the target therapeutic site while addressing dose-limiting (systemic) toxicity improves the targeting of drug therapy. Smaller sized implants remain directly in the body, while larger sized implants can be removed after use. Implants have a higher drug loading capacity, and the drug release mechanism is that the drug slowly diffuses through the polymer matrix and dissolves in the surrounding environment, allowing the implant to have a longer drug delivery period and to achieve long-lasting and sustained drug therapy. Controlled release implants hold great promise for cancer, contraception, antiviral, Alzheimer's disease, schizophrenia, and other diseases.

Advantages of controlled-release implant:

  • Low-flow low-dose drug delivery is safer. The low dose of drug is released into the patient's bloodstream in a controlled time, effectively avoiding the problem of high blood concentration
  • Implantable sustained release controls drug release in a slower manner, prolonging the duration of action
  • Avoiding first-pass effect and gastrointestinal degradation improves drug bioavailability
  • Implanted at specific sites according to needs reduces systemic toxicity and improves the targeting of drug therapy
  • The frequency of drug administration and clinic visit reduces
  • The compliance of long-term chronic patients greatly improves

The applications of controlled-release implant include:

Controlled release implants are capable of releasing drugs continuously and slowly, depending on the environment of the site, to achieve long-lasting therapeutic effects. Currently implanted drug delivery systems are used in reproductive health, oncology, pain management, eye care and many other applications.
