Microencapsulation-Based Drug Delivery System

CD Bioparticles is a leading manufacturer of microencapsulation technology. Our research team provides microencapsulation technology services to researchers specializing in pharmacology and analytical chemistry with extensive experience in the healthcare industry. Helping customers develop novel drug delivery methods that facilitate the rapid marketability of drugs.

Introduction to Microencapsulation

Microencapsulation is the process of encapsulating active substances (drugs, enzymes, vitamins, flavors, pesticides, etc.) in very small capsules, which form small particles (ranging in size from less than 1 micron to several hundred microns) that can be released at a specific rate under specific conditions. The microencapsulation process is widely used in food processing, pharmaceutical slow release and pesticides. The material encapsulated or wrapped inside the microcapsule is called the core material and the outer material is called the coating material or capsule wall. The capsule wall usually consists of a natural polymer composite material. Microcapsules possess the ability to increase the stability of the active substance, reduce toxicity and shield against specific odors and bitter tastes. In addition to this, the purpose of delayed release and on-demand release of drug molecules can be achieved as per the requirement.

Advantages of microencapsulation:

  • Reducing hygroscopicity.
  • Conversion of liquids to free-flowing solids.
  • Masking of odour, taste and activity of encapsulated materials.
  • Increased stability (protection of the encapsulated materials against oxidation or deactivation due to reaction in the environment).
  • Controlled release of active compounds (sustained or delayed release).

The applications of microencapsulation include:

  • Masking of peculiar bad odors, used for the delivery of fish oil.
  • Delivery of unstable drugs to avoid gastrointestinal inactivation.
  • Food processing. Some substances in food additives are embedded using microencapsulation technology to increase product stability.

Our Microencapsulation Featured Services

CD Bioparticles provides customers with microencapsulation customization services. Based on the properties of drug molecules and controlled release conditions, we select appropriate microencapsulation materials to help customers solve problems encountered in the development and design of microencapsulation technology.

  • Microencapsulation customization service
  • Performance Evaluation

Measurement of various parameters (solid content, viscosity, microcapsule morphology, capsule size distribution, drug encapsulation rate and release properties, etc.) to ensure the stability and high quality of the product.

  • Pharmacological studies

To study the toxicity and degradation properties of microencapsulated materials to evaluate the safety performance of the products. Research on drug activity, blood concentration, etc. to ensure that the product complies with manufacturing regulations.
